Clay Paky’s The Projectors Triumph Over Darkness
Malaysia, Mutiara Damansara – After a strenuous 1 and a half days of preparation, Acoustic & Lighting System (“A&L”) successfully conducted their open house event on 17th November 2015 to introduce Clay Paky’s The Projectors series. A&L who previously hosted the event in Singapore earlier this year, chose to host another open house event in Kuala Lumpur to welcome Scenius, the latest member of The Projectors series. Jointly hosted with Clay Paky, the open house was conducted at the Bentley’s Auditorium located at the heart of Mutiara Damansara.
With the intention of displaying the superiority of Clay Paky’s The Projectors range of fixtures, A&L took the extra effort in carefully selecting the venue. “It took us quite a while to find the right venue. There were a few factors we consider when choosing the right venue” mentioned Eric, who was in charge in finding the venue for this event. “We knew the capabilities of these lighting. In order to show the full potential of The Projectors, the height and length of the venue were crucial. Accessibility to power supply and the convenience of the location for our invited guest was also another factor. Exposure to unnecessary light has to be avoided as we only want the light source from the fixtures. After examining the venue, we decided to go with the Bentley’s auditorium in Mutiara Damansara. It had the proper height and length for the powerful Scenius, Mythos and Supersharpy to throw their beams. Additionally the venue was situated at a strategic location where it was easy for our invited guests. As for the exposure of lights, the Bentley’s auditorium had a limited natural light exposure, which can easily achieve a full black out ambience with minimal setup.” explained Eric.
The event, which lasted from 11.00 AM till 7.00 PM saw over 50 attendees from rental, broadcasters, system integrators and consultants. It had a total of 27 Clay Paky’s Lighting fixtures where 19 were from The Projectors series. The event was accompanied by an official promotional video by Clay Paky that was projected by 2 Panasonic PT-DZ21K projectors on a 10×30 ft projector screen. Alfonso Zarate Takano, Clay Paky’s APAC Sales Manager along with Clay Paky’s Sales Support Engineer Giulia Sabeva were also present at the event. Giulia Sabeva who had been in various lighting events brought the lights to life that day. As the video was presented, the first lighting to take the center stage was the Supersharpy. Successor of Sharpy, the Supersharpy is an ACL beam type moving head using 470 watts and 7800 K lamp. A total of 4 units were used in the event, showing off its brightness with its 3 times brightness of the Sharpy. The ability to throw its beam at a long distance with precision left the guests in awe. Next to make an appearance was the Mythos. With a total of 18 fixed gobos and 6 rotating gobos, the Mythos was build for versatility. A total of 4 units were used in the event. Strong and punchy lights caught the guests by surprise as Stormy was the next in line to display its superiority as an advance strobe light. A total of 4 white Stormy and 4 RGB Stormy were used. The Stormy innovates tradition as it retains the classic strobe light while using LED technology. Its ability to turn off smoothly as compared to the traditional strobes was extraordinary. Last but not least, the latest addition to The Projectors family, Scenius stole the center of the show. Scenius a new moving head spotlight caught the guests attention as it shines in a cone shape easily visible. Its advanced optical unit and the new 1400W OSRAM discharge lamp provide a much higher light output than with previous generation 1500W lamps. Thanks to the CMY System, a 7 colour wheel and a linear CTO filter enhanced the Scenius as it provided a spectacular colour show to the audience with its fluid colour changes. With 8°-50° zoom, Scenius is a fit for every occasion be it in theatre or at live events.
Thanks to the whole lighting crew, stage crew and the support from Clay Paky’s personnel, the audience were able to witness the power of Clay Paky’s The Projectors Series that triumph over darkness. As a bonus for the audience, they were also able to witness the A.leda B-Eye K20 at use. Giulia Sebava, using the grandMA lighting console, put the B-Eye to life with various effects, harmonizing the lighting fixtures from RnB to Country music. “Simply amazing”, “Spectacular lighting display”, “I could see the difference in terms of quality” were some of the positive comments given to us as the event ended. “Clay Paky is a strong brand with great products and quality, it is always a worthwhile consideration” suggested one of the guests attended.
