SoundStruck: Live January 2016

Malaysia – Struck by the great experience we had over the past SoundStruck: Live Edition. Acoustic & Lighting System (A&L) continued their passion for the local music industry by sponsoring acoustic equipments for the first SoundStruck edition for the year 2016. A&L which recently hosted Sennheiser’s D1 launching event in Kuala Lumpur provided 2 D1 wireless microphones to the event. The slick and elegant design stood on its charging dock as crew began their routine equipment installations. Hosted by Wanted Symphony on the 29 January 2016 at The Bee, Jaya One, the event saw a large crowd supporting the bands performing that night. “This would be my second time attending this event. It’s great being able to chill with friends and enjoy the ambience,” commented David one of the audience that night.

“We brought along the Sennheiser D1 wireless microphone as the main mic for that night. Using it as our main vocal microphone that night. It definitely showed the crowd how a professional microphone should perform. There was certainly a lot of exposure for the D1 and we expected it,” commented Rain, A&L’s Event Planner and Coordinator. Aside from the 2 D1-845S units, A&L brought the wired E845S for backup vocal. As for instrument microphones, 2 units of E914 and a single E901 microphone where used to capture the bands instruments. As for monitor speakers and loudspeakers, A&L continued with the Alto – TS110A and SXM112A for monitor.

Sam Lopez revved up the night with his originals such as “Would You Be Mine” and covers. “Would You Be Mine”, a song written by Sam Lopez about love was a great way to start off the event. Having an interest in music since his teenage years, Sam Lopez followed his dreams; moving out of Ipoh and into the heart of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur in 2015. When asked how did it all started, he mentioned that his college years, were the years where he expanded his talent. Next to perform was Isaac Ho, from Ipoh and recently release his EP “Her Sunset Monorail” took the D1 wireless microphone singing his originals such as “Sanctuary”. This young man, with his comedic expression and easy to approached, plays his guitar with passion as he taps his paddles. Sedsuna was next, a unique 5 member band; Aaron, Charles, Mark, Ravi and Victor. The band took the stage with acoustic and instrument covers of their original “June Candle” and “The Magician”. The crowd was amazed as they listened to the amazing performance. It was something different that night. 5 boy band from Johor Bahru, South and The Lowlands were next. The band known for their indie rock alternative genre songs were made up of Sebastian, Joshua, Daniel, Bryan and Jesmond. The band performed their originals such as “Wanderer” and their latest single “Sculptures”. Up next was none other than Wanted Symphony’s Daniel Wong. The crowd applauded as he played his singles passionately. One of his latest song “Disappear” was also performed that night. Shaun Chen a man with many talents was next to perform. Shaun performed multiple musical songs together with his musician bringing the crowd to appreciate the different side of music. Last but not least, Skazz a band that is familiar with jazz, pop, funk and everything in between took the ending session of the event. Skazz, who recently performed at Penang Chinese New Year Celebration performed covers such as Megan Trainor – All About That Bass.

In the end, the event served its purpose. It was a platform for artists to showcase their talents. The crowd enjoyed it and we enjoyed it as well. “It was great to watch your favourite band performing in a crowd like this. I mean we were able to enjoy the music while catching up with friends,” commented one of the audience. “Overall the sound was clear and everyone did their best in performing,” replied another.
