SSL grooves at Istana Budaya’s Music of The Night

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – On 19th December 2015, the National Theatre “Panggung Sari” saw a large crowd of music enthusiast waiting eagerly for one of the most anticipated musical performances of the year. Istana Budaya known for organizing musical events and various cultural events, hosted the “Music of The Night” that evening.

When it comes to monitoring audio in large scale events, SSL Live Consoles comes to mind. SSL Asia together with Acoustic & Lighting System (“A&L”) supported the show with two L500 Live Console for their event. Istana Budaya sound engineer, Mr. Ayie who has experience with the L300 Live Console back in USIM’s (University Science Islam Malaysia) Alhan Rabbaniyah concert in November 2015 was the FOH (Front of House) monitor for this event. We were glad to know that he enjoyed using the L300 and gave us a positive feedback on the L500 Live Console. “After using the L300, the L500 is even better with more features and more monitoring capabilities. It is definitely a console that lives up to its name as a digital console with the ability to produce analog sound,” commented Ayie during the event’s rehearsal. Mr. Anuar Mohammad Kassim, the sound engineer that night who was in charge of monitoring the event shared his opinion as well. “It’s great. It took me awhile testing out the console features and function, but after that it was pretty straight forward and easy to handle. The display panel and lightings allowed me to differentiate the buttons clearly,” replied Kassim as we watched him configuring the pads.

That night’s performance were musical pieces from well-known movies such as Star Wars: Main Theme, Star Wars: The Imperial March, Phantom of the Opera, Batman: The Dark Knight Rises, Pirate of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, Harry Potter: Hedwig’s Flight & Harry’s Wondrous World, Lord of The Ring: The Fellowship and many more. The audience were able to witness the quality music from both audio equipments and professional performers. The audience were honored to have Mr. Mustafa Fuzer Nawi, who has many years of experience in the classical musical industry as the conductor for that night. Throughout the evening Istana Budaya’s National Symphony Orchestra musicians played their instruments diligently while performers such as Jaclyn Victor and Stephen Rahman sang with great clarity. Stephen Rahman who played Hang Tuah in Puteri Gunung Ledang’s musical sang duets with Jaclyn Victor for Puteri Gunung Ledang – Di Puncak Tertinggi and Phantom – All I Ask of You.

The performances ended successfully as audience exited the theatre with wide smiles and laughter. As for A&L, we were glad to play a part in such an amazing event and sharing the quality of SSL Live Console with all who were present that day.
