SSL Monitors USIM’s Alhan Rabbaniyah Concert

Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia – Alhan Rabbaniyah concert was held in conjunction with University Science Islam Malaysia’s (USIM) 15th years in service. On 21st November, the concert had a large audience, approximately 2000 were presence at the event. In collaboration with Istana Budaya, Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP), Institut Terjemahan Buku Malaysia (ITBM), Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat (JKM), the event was considered to be a relative large scale event for USIM. The concert also featured well known singers such as Datuk Ramli Sarip from Malaysia, Sharifah Khasif from Singapore and Opick from Indonesia. Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) being the official media, broadcasted the concert live for the millions of Malaysians who could not be present. In addition to RTM, Utusan Malaysia was also appointed as the official paper for the concert. Various Ministers and Heads of Government Departments were present alongside with Yang Dipertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir in support of the performers and in celebration of USIM’s 15th year in service.

Acoustic & Lighting System (“A&L”) together with SSL Asia, were glad to be a part of this joyous occasion. A&L and SSL Asia provided the event with SSL 500 Plus Live Console, SSL 500 Live Console and SSL 300 Live Console. “We were glad to be a part of the concert. We wanted to show the power of the SSL console in such a large event”, said one of the A&L personnel present at the hall. “We were excited because it is one of the events that used our Live console for all three monitor stations.” mentioned one of SSL Asia Staff.

During the rehearsal we had the opportunity during the rehearsal to meet up with the sound engineers in charge of their respective stations. Mr. Kuzai, used the SSL 500 Live Plus console for Front of House monitoring shared his feedback with us. Mr. Kuzai, who used SSL console in a previous event called “Rentak Bintara” (an inter university band competition in Malaysia) gave us a warm smile as he posed for a picture with the SSL Console. “This desk is very accurate for every microphone used. It is able to capture the original acoustic sound and there is no need to tweak much since the SSL desk is able to capture the sound perfectly. There is a lot of features and functions, even I have not tried all of it.” mentioned Mr. Kuzai who was very excited to use the SSL console again. “It’s a good console” exclaimed Mr. Kuzai as he returned to his work. Mr. Zarul, a sound engineer with RTM, had a chance to use the SSL 500 Live console for broadcasting.  “Being a first time user of the SSL Console, I have to say that it is easy to use. Everything was clear and visible for me to take note of. As for a broadcast monitoring console, I would say that it is able to provide the sound that I am looking for. It is clear no more compressor and distortion,” mentioned Mr. Zarul. Last but not least, we were able to conduct a brief interview with Istana Budaya’s sound engineer, who preferred to be addressed as Mr. Ayie. Mr. Ayie has been working with Istana Budaya “Orkestra Traditional Malaysia” and “Orkestra Symphony Kebangsaan” for approximately 10 years. He was given the opportunity to test the SSL 300 Live Console for the event. “Easy to operate, straight forward and it has organized section for me to configure and operate,” were his feedback for the console.

With such a successful event, it was an eye opening for the audience to experience traditional poems and songs. Additionally, it was a great collaboration for USIM and A&L in creating such a joyous concert.
